El Gouna, the Group’s flagship project, is a private self-sufficient town built on 10 km of the Red Sea coastline in Egypt. Established more than 20 years ago, the town is now home to a population of between 18,000 – 22,000 permanent residents and visitors from all over the world, to whom it offers a wide range of international-standard facilities such as a landing strip, a European-standard hospital, a nursing institute, a championship 18-hole golf course, two marinas with capacity of 361 berths, 100 restaurants and bars, four schools, a library linked to Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a branch of the American University in Cairo (AUC), child daycare facilities and a vibrant town center. El Gouna comprises a total land area of 36.8 million sqm, of which 11.2 million sqm has been developed, thus providing a large land bank for future development. El Gouna also hosts an impressive range of real estate properties with over 2,500 villas & apartment already sold.
In addition to first-class amenities, year-round sunshine, picturesque scenery, El Gouna boasts 18 hotels, 17 of which are controlled by the Group, offering a total of 2,879 rooms. The hotels accommodate holiday guests from all over the world, the majority of who are from Europe. El Gouna was chosen as the pilot destination for the Green Star Initiative, a partnership between the Group, the German consulting firm AGEG Consultants and the German Technical Cooperation. El Gouna was the pilot project for the Green Star Initiative and in 2008 eleven of the 14 hotels got certified as Green Star hotels. The Abu Tig Marina Extension is now operating adding another 123 berths to Abu Tig Marina, which caters to the rapidly-expanding mega yacht market by offering berthing for vessels up to 60 meters in length, a yacht club, and is also home to two new four star hotels, Fanadir and Mosaique. A six star hotel with a total capacity of 10 keys is under development, and a second hotel is planned offering 150 keys. A second 18-hole PGA championship golf course is planned with potential residential units in the surrounding area. A branch of Berlin Technical University is under planning. 3 real estate products are being planned by the Group.
