El Gouna, the Group’s flagship project, is a private self-sufficient town built on 10 km of the Red Sea coastline and located north of Hurghada, 35 km from Hurghada International Airport.  Established more than 20 years ago, the town is now home to a population of more than 24,000 permanent residents and visitors from all over the world, to whom it offers a wide range of international-standard facilities such as a landing strip, a European-standard hospital, a nursing institute, 18-hole championship golf course, three marinas, four schools, child daycare facilities, a library linked to Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a branch of the American University in Cairo (AUC),  and TUB Berlin University that opened in October 2012, 419 outlets including restaurants, bars, shops, various services, and a vibrant town center.

El Gouna comprises a total land area of 36.9 million sqm, of which 14.4 million m2 has been developed (39.1% developed), thus providing a large land bank for future development.

In addition to first-class amenities, year-round sunshine, picturesque scenery, El Gouna boasts 16 hotels, for a total capacity of 2,707 rooms.  The hotels accommodate holiday guests from all over the world.  El Gouna was chosen as the pilot destination for the Green Star Initiative, a partnership between the Group, the German consulting firm AGEG Consultants and the German Technical Cooperation.  In 2014, El Gouna was awarded the Green Town award by the UNDP.
